It appears the deal to bring Olivier Giroud to Arsenal is all but done. Arsene Wenger said on French TV station TF1:
'Giroud didn't play much (at the Euros so far), but he's going to be an
Arsenal player 90 per cent next season. I think he has exceptional potential
and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing.
' He is a real team player and knows how to combine with other players and
am sure he will do well with us.'
Those quotes pretty confirms the deal. It's quite unusual for Wenger to talk about a player he's after to the press. The club seems to have deviated from their penny-pinching and dilly-dallying in the transfer market with early moves for Podolski and Giroud. RVP will certainly not find it easy to quit for sporting reasons.
In other news, AOC is reported to be in line for a bumper pay rise that will tripple his wages to 45k/week.
This is similar to Wilshere's deal that took his weekly earnings to 60k/week. The Ox will be a huge star for Arsenal next season, though expectations must be tempered as he is still relatively inexperienced. Wenger consistently took him out of the firing line to much criticisms but his cameos for England at the Euros has been impressive. With Jack Wilshere returning next season, this Arsenal team suddenly looks like they could challenge IF and that's a big if, Robin re-signs and Jack stays injury free.
That's your lot for today, till tomorrow.
